Who's Behind This

Show Up for Humanity is organized by Worried Citizens vzw — a collective of everyday people who refuse to stay passive. We're ordinary people who are fed up. Fed up with watching while the world burns. Fed up with hearing "there's nothing can we do about it". Fed up with pretending everything's okay.

We started Worried Citizens to wake up the silent majority. We want to see that there are far more people who want to change something than people think. And it's precisely those people we want to bring together AND into action.

Founded by Eline Goethals, Tijs Delbeke, and Elisabeth Van Lierop, we believe that regular citizens have more power than they realize. This event is by citizens, for citizens.

Looking at the news I find myself worrying—but just sitting and watching won’t help. The world doesn’t need more people feeling helpless. That’s why I want to turn my worry into action and do something, even small, to make a difference.

Dreaming of a world where people living with disabilities, struggling with mental health or money, speaking different languages or living in different bodies — can proudly say: “I belong.” With Todos, I stand for concrete to-do’s — actions that move us toward an inclusive world. This festival is one of those to-do’s.

“Samenleving” is, to me, one of the most beautiful words in the Dutch language. It’s clear and powerful. It literally says what it means: living together. A festival that is dedicated to strengthening that sense of living together is something we at Rabbit Hole are more than happy to support wholeheartedly.
